Product description: Xylometazoline constricts blood vessels, relieves swelling and redness of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. As a result, with inflammation of the nasal mucosa, nasal breathing is facilitated, therapeutic doses do not irritate the nasal mucosa and do not cause redness.
The action of the drug occurs in a few minutes and lasts 8-12 hours. Due to double hydration, it has little effect on the drying of the nasal mucosa. When applied topically, it is practically not absorbed into the bloodstream.
Its concentration in the blood is very low and cannot be determined by modern methods.
Indications: Xeolin spray should be used in the following cases:
• Acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa of viral or bacterial origin.
• Allergic inflammation of the nasal mucosa and its triggers.
• Inflammation of the middle ear (reduction of swelling of the nasopharynx).
• Reduce swelling of the nasopharynx.
• Used to prepare the patient for nose surgery.
Active Ingredient: 1 ml of spray contains 1 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride.
0.1% spray for adults and children over 12 years old, 1 spray (can be repeated if necessary) 3-4 times a day. Treatment can be continued for 10 days in a row.
Side effects: Irritation of the nasal mucosa, dryness and discomfort, swelling of the nasal mucosa with prolonged use and increased secretion may occur. Overdose and swallowing symptoms may sometimes include headache and palpitations.
Prohibitions: Do not use in case of angle-closure glaucoma and people with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Warning: Can be used by pregnant and lactating women as directed by a physician. The drug should also be used with caution in people with high blood pressure, heartburn and diabetes mellitus.
Interaction with other drugs: Xeolin should not be used concurrently with antidepressants or drugs that suppress the enzyme monoamine oxidase.
